Ford, 75
Red
Lake Falls - Dorothy Ford, 75, died on Sunday,
March 21, 2004 at her home in Red Lake Falls,
following a battle with cancer.
Funeral
services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
March 24, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Church in Red
Lake Falls. Casket bearers included Bryan Ford, Guy
Ford, Bradley Hagen, Brandon Ford, Billy Potucek
and Nathan Potucek. Visitation will be held for one
hour prior to services at the church.
Dorothy
Meyer was born on March 1, 1929, the daughter of
Clarence and Bertha (Wiese) Meyer in Red Lake
Falls. She attended Lafayette High School and
graduated in 1947.
On
September 18, 1948, Dorothy was united in marriage
to Harold P. Ford at St. John Lutheran Church in
Red Lake Falls. They were parents of seven
children.
Dorothy
was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she
faithfully served and did volunteer work. She
served her community on the volunteer ambulance and
also supported the Red Lake Falls Hockey program as
a Blue Line member and was inducted into the Blue
Line Hall of Fame. Over the years Dorothy was
employed at various jobs in Red Lake Falls
including the Red Lake Falls Library, Penguin
Clothing, Red Lake Falls Gazette, Detroiter Mobile
Homes and the Red Lake County Social Services
office. She retired in 1990.
Her
favorite place was at the lake and she taught many
of her grandchildren how to fish. She liked to
follow the local high school sports and enjoyed
gardening, bowling, knitting and crocheting.
Dorothy
had a deep commitment to her family. She took great
interest in each one of her children,
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and siblings, giving
them strength, encouragement and love.
Survivors
include her daughters: Kathy (Corky) Kleven of Red
Lake Falls, Linda (Jim) Potucek of Warren, Laurie
Ford of Anchorage, Alaska, Kristi (Elroy) Hagen of
Moorhead; and sons: Guy (Lori) Ford and Bryan
(Darla) Ford both of Grand Forks, N.D.; 10
grandchildren; two brothers, Harold (Lavoane) Meyer
of Staples, Ken (Mavis) Meyer of Belle Vista, Ariz.
and sister, Glady (Jack) LaCrosse of Red Lake Falls
and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy
was preceded in death by her parents; her brother,
John; her husband, Harold in 1999; and infant son,
Bradley in 1958.
