Leopold Foldesi, 82

Greenbush - Leopold Foldesi, 82, died Sunday, October 21, 2001 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.

Services were held Thursday, October 25, at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann officiating.

Gary Paquin was the reader. Eucharistic ministers included Dean and Diane Shafer and Henryka Evans. Jeanne Novacek provided special music, and gift bearers were Lance and Ashley Hadfield and Greg, Shania and Faith Olson. Casketbearers were Tom and Gary Paquin, Steve Burkel, Steve Hadfield, Fred Nickolaus and Chris Anderson. Interment was in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of the arrangements.

Leopold Joseph Foldesi was born on October 16, 1919 in Barnett Township of Roseau County near Greenbush, the son of Michael and Agnes (Meier) Foldesi. He grew up and attended school in Barnett Township.

On June 18, 1940, Leopold married Louise Zins at Greenbush. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked at Polaris Industries in Roseau.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening.

Leopold is survived by his wife, Louise; three daughters, Shirley (Fred) Nickolaus of Cottage Grove, Sharon Paquin of Greenbush and Carolyn (Steve) Hadfield of Lino Lakes; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Laura Shafer of Greenbush and Euphemia "Helen" Stevens of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Donna Beito; a son in infancy; three brothers, George, Emil and Andrew Foldesi; three sisters, Rose Foldesi, Myrtle Smith and Applone Schires; and a half sister, Minnie VanBrunt.
