Irvin Flatgard, 68

Oklee - Irvin Flatgard died on Friday, February 27, 2004 at home in Oklee, after a three year battle with cancer, at the age of 68. obit-Flatgard, Irvin #3ECBF

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 1, at Salem Lutheran Church in Oklee, with Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Casket bearers included Ronald Flatgard, Mike Skjerven, Eddie Larson, Bjarne Kvasager and Ray Rosten. Interment was held at Salem Cemetery in Oklee.

Irvin Anton Flatgard was born September 16, 1935 in Mountain Lake, the son of Ingman and Annie (Larson) Flatgard. He was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in Jackson. Irvin grew up in Windom, where he attended school. In June 1948, he moved with his family to Oklee. He was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Oklee.

June of 1958, Irvin entered the service and served one year in Korea. He received an honorable discharge in 1960.

On July 7, 1960, Irvin was united in marriage to Loretta Lundeen at Oak Park Lutheran Church in Oklee. He worked on a ranch in Havre, Mont., drove milk truck, farmed north of Oklee, and also worked at Arctic in Thief River Falls. He trucked for Midland Gas and drove school bus for many years. Irvin was a man of quiet faith. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also served on the Garnes Township Board and was a member of Trail VFW Post 6426. He enjoyed deer hunting, but most of all he loved spending special time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Oklee; children, Toni Knutson of Oklee, Dale (Kelly) of Austin, LeAnn Bruski of Oklee, and Craig (Shelly) of Oklee; eight grandchildren; sisters, Emilie (Jerry) Skjerven of Plummer, and Elaine (Loren) Mathson of South Heart, N.D.
