Oscar Fjeld, 85

Vancouver, Wash. - Oscar H. Fjeld, 85, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at his home in Vancouver, Wash.

Memorial services were held at Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment was in Memorial Gardens on February 23 with John Joseph, Stein Paasche, Hans Joseph, Matthew Joseph, Walter Johnson, Russel Johnson, Dave Langseth, and Selmer Holen as casketbearers.

Oscar H. Fjeld was born on April 5, 1916 in Erie, the son of Hans and Ragnhild Fjeld. He graduated from Goodridge High School in 1936 and spent four years in the Air Force.

In 1947, Oscar married Esther Johnson. For the past 54 years, he had lived on the West Coast, 40 of those years in Vancouver, Wash. He retired as an instrument craftsman and was a former watch repairman.

He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, going to garage sales, and numerous other hobbies.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Esther; two daughters, Diane (John) Joseph of White Bear Lake and Bonnie (Stein) Paasche of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Frodahl of Mora and Marie Fjeld of Thief River Falls; and two sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Henry, Melvin, Otto, and Alvin; and two sisters, Alma Chapman and Betsy Molden. A00003B2002MR27
