Farbo, 90
Thief
River Falls - Alvin Farbo, 90, died Tuesday,
April 9, 2002 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief
River Falls.
A
funeral service was held on Saturday, April 13, at
the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Thief River
Falls with Rev. Marcus Mundall officiating. Sylvia
Rondorf was the organist. Lois Bray, Gloria Umber,
and Evelyn Wold provided special music.
Casketbearers were Richard Farbo, Phillip Farbo,
Craig Farbo, Bryan Cloutier, Keith Johnson, and
Curtis Farbo. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery
in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in
charge of the arrangements.
Alvin
Ira Farbo was born on January 10, 1912, at the home
of his parents, Iver Nicholai and Augusta Pauline
(Melhus) Farbo in Caribou where he grew up and
attended a country school. As a young boy, Alvin
helped on the family farm.
He
married Elaine Lund in Minneapolis where the couple
made their home. They later moved to Karlstad and
then Thief River Falls. Alvin found employment in
body shops in Minneapolis and East Grand
Forks.
On
December 18, 1979, Alvin married Nellie Louise
(Robidoux) Nelson in Thief River Falls. The couple
resided in Thief River Falls, and Alvin continued
to work at the auto body shop. He moved to Oakland
Park Nursing Home in June of 1997.
He
was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist
Church
Alvin
was proud of his Norwegian heritage and enjoyed
gardening and singing.
He
also did some trapping during his younger
years.
Survivors
include two daughters, Linda (Dr. Ruben) Thorbus of
Hanford, Calif. and Carole Cloutier of Thief River
Falls; three sons, Richard of Missoula, Mont.,
Phillip (Michelle) of Alexandria, Va., and Craig
(Lora) Farbo of Temple, Texas; nine grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth (Lavern)
Johnson of Thief River Falls; and a brother, David
(Vivian) Farbo of Thief River Falls.
Alvin
was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine in 1978;
a grandson, Alexander; his parents; two sisters,
Judith Norum and Gertrude Jarnes; and two brothers,
