"Bud" Evans, 75

Clearwater
- Richard "Bud" Evans, 75, formerly of Thief
River Falls, died on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at his
home in Clearwater.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, June 2 at St.
Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with
the Rev. Tim McGee officiating. Andrew Yagie was
the organist and Shelly Burkel was the soloist.
Other musicians were Les and Luke Torgerson and
Amanda Evans. Casketbearers were Clair Ellison, Les
Torgerson, Andy Malyk and Larry Drebniski.
Interment was in Fort Snelling in St. Paul on
Tuesday, June 3 with the Rev. John Bauer
officiating.
Richard
Lewis "Bud" Evans was born in Roseau on April 5,
1928, the son of Joe and Marie (Smrstik) Evans. He
was raised in Greenbush. After graduating from the
University of Minnesota, he enlisted in the Air
Force and served in the Korean War.
On July
20, 1963, he married Mary Mostoway of Winnipeg,
Manitoba. He owned Evans Steel in Thief River Falls
for many years. He was a member of St. Bernard's
Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Rotary, Elks,
VFW, American Legion and the Chamber of Commerce,
of which, he was a past president. After
retirement, he and Mary made their home part-time
in North Fort Myers, Fla., and recently bought a
home in Clearwater.
Bud loved
golfing, hunting, fishing, playing bridge and pool,
and traveling. His family and friends will miss him
for his sense of humor, storytelling and
kindness.
Survivors
include his wife, Mary of Clearwater; son, Bob
(Mauri) of St. Paul; daughter, Myra (Charlie)
Hayhurst; and four grandchildren.
Richard
was preceded in death by his parents, and his
