Ore. - Kenneth R. Evans, 72, died Monday, April
22, 2002 at a Newport, Ore. hospital.
Disposition
was by cremation, and memorial services were held
at First Baptist Church in Waldport, Ore. on
Saturday, April 27.
Kenneth
R. Evans was born on April 11, 1930 in Grygla, the
son of Axel and Lottie Evans. The family sold its
farm in 1945 and moved to Washington State. Ken
served in the U.S. Army from April of 1951 until he
was wounded in the Korean War in January of 1952.
He returned to the United States for recuperation
in several hospitals before joining his parents in
Shelton, Wash. He received a medical discharge and
later pursued work in Oregon with the Cascade
Lumber Company.
After
Ken met Jackie Donald and her sons, Dewey and
Charles, the couple married in 1963. The couple had
a daughter, Lyndie, and divorced in 1976.
After
becoming reacquainted with Jean Rowe, Ken and Jean
were married on February 14, 1991. They resided in
Waldport, Ore.
Survivors
include his wife, Jean; a daughter, Lyndie; two
stepsons, Dewey Donald and Charles Donald of
Oregon; two brothers, Harry (Vi) of San Diego,
Calif. and Glenn (Anna Rose) of Bottineau, N.D.; a
sister, Margaret Engebretson of Olympia, Wash.; and
numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding
Kenneth in death were his parents; two sisters,
Myrtle Southard and Helen Gossett; and a brother,
Cpl. Harold Evans, still listed as an MIA since
December 12, 1950 from the Korean War.
