Katherine Erickson, 72

Red Lake - Katherine Marie Jourdain Erickson, 72, died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at the Jourdain-Perpich Extended Care Facility in Red Lake.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Mission Catholic Church in Red Lake with Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. Casketbearers will include Mathew "Billy" Sayers, Vincent "Mike" Parkhurst, Henry Donnell, Doug Olson, Richard Olson, and Doug Tarnow. Honorary casketbearers will be Ardelle "Joanie" Bellanger, Evon "Tiny" Beaulieu, Elaine Little, Bonnie McGraw, Red Pemberton, Leonard Donnell, Aloysius "Wishy" Thunder, Judy Roy, Debbie Barrett, Gerald "Butch" Brun, Don Cook Sr., and Alberta "Birdie" Senogles. Interment will be in St. Mary's Mission Catholic Church Cemetery in Red Lake.

A wake will begin this morning (Wednesday, April 17) at the Little Rock Center and continue until the time of the service. Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji is in charge of the arrangements.

Katherine Marie Jourdain was born on August 15, 1929 in Red Lake, the daughter of Mary Blue Rosebear and Ben Jourdain. In Red Lake, she was raised by Mary and Jake Rosebear and attended school at St. Mary's.

On May 15, 1955, she married Oliver Erickson in Middle River. Katherine worked at various jobs including an EMT, transportation driver and cook. She also worked in commercial fishing and at the school.

She enjoyed fixing things, sewing, cooking, and sharing her knowledge of many things with her daughters.

Katherine is survived by her husband, Oliver Erickson of Red Lake; four daughters, Jan (Charles) Kelly, Lynda Erickson, Debbie (Rusty) Lussier, and Sherri (Bill Spears) Erickson; eight grandchildren; three aunts; a sister, Alley; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Margaret Olson, Isabelle Arnevik, Frances "Babe" Barrett, and Marlene "Jeanie" Parkhurst; and two brothers, Charles Blue and Raphael Jourdain. A00003B2002MR20
