- Harold Erickson, 69, died Tuesday, September
4, 2001 at the Roseau Area Hospital.
Funeral
services were held Friday, September 7, at 2 p.m.
at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau.
Harold
Erickson was born on April 1, 1932 in Holt, the son
of Oscar and Myrtle (Knutson) Erickson. He grew up
in Holt where he attended school and helped on the
farm.
On
August 4, 1962, Harold was united in marriage to
Marylin Dow. The couple farmed near Holt until 1970
when they moved to the Great Lakes where he
operated ore boats for two months during the
summers of 1970 and 1971. In 1972, they moved to
Grand Rapids where they went into the logging
industry. Later, they moved to Remer where Harold
continued to work as a logger until his retirement
in 1999. In 2000, the couple moved to Roseau to be
closer to their children and
grandchildren.
Harold
enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and especially
spending time with his children and
grandchildren.
Survivors
include his wife, Marylin of Roseau; three sons,
Jeff (Dawn) Erickson of Roseau, Gregg Erickson of
New Hampshire and Mitch (KarLynn) Erickson of
Badger; two daughters, Melanie (Darrell) Collins of
Hastings and Michelle (Chad) Wulff of Roseau; six
grandchildren; five sisters, Irene (Maynard)
Molskness, Marlo Anderson and Blanch Palm, all of
Thief River Falls, Grace (Daryl) Olson of
Washington and June (John) Sipkens of Florida; and
five brothers, Oliver "Gub" (Kathryn) Erickson of
Red Lake, Delano Erickson of Brooklyn Center,
Garner (Julie) Erickson of Holt, Donald "Spud"
(Sharon) Erickson of St. Paul and Wavell (Sarah)
Erickson of Thief River Falls.
Harold
was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
Galen and infant brother Roy; and a sister, Carmen.
