Earl Erickson, 89

Thief River Falls - Earl Erickson, 89, died Thursday, April 18, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 Erickson Obit p.m. on Monday, April 22, at First Baptist Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. David Widerski officiating. Cathy Erickson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Dennis Erickson, Amorin Olson, Virgil Erickson, Garner Erickson, Geoff Gorman, and Randy Erickson. Honorary casketbearers were Leslie Kulseth and Jack Hanson. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Earl Kenneth Erickson was born on April 18, 1913 in Vega Township of Marshall County, the son of Theodore "Ted" and Gertrude (Hallin) Erickson. He grew up in New Solum Township where he attended a rural school.

He married Pearl Rust in Warren in the 1930s, and the couple made their home in Rosewood before later moving to Thief River Falls.

Earl married Elaine Helm at Erskine, and the couple resided in Thief River Falls. After Elaine's death on March 24, 1978, Earl continued to live in Thief River Falls, moving to Valley Home in 1998.

Earl drove a cream truck for Co-op Creamery and later took over his father's well drilling business, digging wells throughout northwestern Minnesota until his retirement in 1973.

He enjoyed wildlife, was especially fond of the lady slipper flower, and continued to enjoyed deer hunting, shooting two deer last year.

Survivors include a son, Donald (Linda) Erickson of Lincoln, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Donna Teague of Sevierville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

Preceding Earl in death were his wives; a son, Duane; his parents; a sister, Clarabelle Hayes; and three brothers, Willard, Roy, and Dean Erickson. A00003B2002AP24
