Duane E. Erickson, 66

Erickson, DuaneBagley - Duane Edwin Erickson, 66, of Bagley, died on Monday, April 12, 2004 at the First Care Hospital in Fosston.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 16, at the United Lutheran Church in Berner. Interment was held at Norway Lake Cemetery in Leonard.

Duane Erickson was born February 23, 1938 in Bagely, the son of Harold and Magdeline "Tootie" (Simmenson) Erickson.

He attended Ruffy Brook Country School in rural Clearbrook. Duane married Kay Stolquist in Clearbrook on July 2, 1960. He went to work for Anderson and Swenson Farms north of Gonvick until 1973, when he moved north of Gully. He was owner-manager of Gully Farms, Inc. where he raised large herds of beef cattle, harvested wild rice and small grains until 1999. He retired to the family homestead farm north of Bagley where he drove truck for Forum Trucking hauling hay and potatoes.

Duane enjoyed many types of racing. He raced stock cars, loved to snowmobile, especially snowmobiling in West Yellowstone, Mont. He enjoyed horses, driving semi, deer hunting, fishing and especially his dog "Wiggles."

Duane served on the Johnson Township Board as supervisor for 19 years, as chairperson on the Gully Tri-Co-op Board and was a member of the United Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Kay; three children, Joan Erickson of Gully, Partrick Erickson of Bagley and Jill Erickson of Thief River Falls; one brother, Teddy (Yvonne) Erickson of Bagley; two sisters, Annette (Steve) Nyland of Bemidji and Sharon (Pat) Dyrdahl-O'Bryan of Bagley; his mother-in-law, Elva (Orval) Nelson of Clearbrook; one sister-in-law, Janice (Dennis) Gordon of Shevlin; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Douglas; and his brother-in-law Gerald Dyrdahl.
