Dennis
Erickson, 65
Red
Lake Falls- Dennis Erickson, 65, died on
Thursday, May 13, 2004, near Springfield, Mo., as a
result of an automobile accident.
Funeral
services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, at
Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, with
Rev. Gary Graff officiating. Casket bearers
included Vance Erickson, Gary Simmons, Larry Hall,
David Bakke, Harvey Klipping, Jerry Bjorgan, Bob
Niemi and Marne Thompson. Interment will be at Oak
Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.
Dennis
Henry Erickson was born on February 13, 1939 in
Warren, the son of Edward and Ethel (Thorsell)
Erickson. He attended school in Argyle, graduating
from Argyle High School.
Dennis
was united in marriage to Marlys Hall on September
11, 1960 in Thief River Falls. The couple lived in
Thief River Falls, where Dennis worked on the
pipeline for a time, then went to work at the
Turkey Plant. In 1962 they moved to Red Lake Falls,
where he worked for Detroiter for 39 years, until
his retirement in 2001.
Dennis
enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and
loved working on their home remodeling, insulating
and reinsulating. He was an avid Red Lake Falls
sports fan and was very loyal to the Red Lake Falls
community businesses. He especially loved spending
time with his grandchildren. Following his
retirement Dennis enjoyed traveling in his good old
trusty van, spending time with his dog "Cookie",
and watching his favorite Gunsmoke episodes.
He
was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the
Bethany Men's Group.
Survivors
include his wife, Marlys of Red Lake Falls; three
sons, Kerry (Pam Knott) Erickson of Red Lake Falls,
Kevin Erickson of Andover and Mark (Jackie)
Erickson of Red Lake Falls; 10 grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, Elsworth (Rosie) Erickson of
California, Vance (Janice) Erickson of Fargo, N.D.,
Kermit Erickson of California, Duane (Betty)
Erickson of California, Donna Erickson of
California, Diane (Tom) Erskine of California,
Doris Simmons of Bemidji, Avis (Arnold) Melin of
California, Darlene (Dick) Stoner of California,
Delton (Dorothy) Erickson of California; and many
other relatives and friends.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; sisters,
Beverly and Phyllis; and brothers, Lyle, Derell
"Buster" and Eldon.
