Falls - Velma Epley, 84, died Thursday, May 16,
2002 at Falls Memorial Hospital in International
Falls.
Services
were held Monday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Zion
Lutheran Church in International Falls with Rev.
Tim Lofstrom officiating. Interment was in Forest
Hill Cemetery in International Falls with
Green-Larsen Mortuary in charge of the
arrangements.
Velma
Nadine McCourtney was born on October 4, 1917 in
Table Rock, Neb., the daughter of Charles and Liela
McCourtney. She grew up in Table Rock and graduated
from high school in 1935.
On
September 10, 1935, she was united in marriage to
LeRoy Epley. The couple resided in Nebraska until
1949 when they moved to a farm in Baudette. In
1954, they moved to International Falls. After
LeRoy's death in 1998, Velma continued to reside in
International Falls. Velma was a homemaker for most
of her life and enjoyed spending time with family
and friends.
Survivors
include a son, Ronnie (Linda) Epley of
International Falls; four daughters, Marjorie
(Chub) Hancock of Baudette, Maxine (Bill) Scholler
of International Falls, Mary Lou (Mel) Milender of
Bemijdi, and Norma Christianson of Thief River
Falls; 22 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 40
great-grandchildren; and four great
great-grandchildren.
In
addition to her husband, Velma was preceded in
death by her parents, five brothers, eight sisters,
and a great great-grandchild.
