Ruby Engelsrud, 83

Newfolden - Ruby Engelsrud, 83, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 5 at Westaker Free Luthern Church in Newfolden with the Rev. Philip Rokke officiating. Orpha Schaffhauser was the organist and Wendy Blazejewski was the soloist. Casketbearers were Michelle Prestebak, Tim Prestebak, Patricia Anderson, Jason Anderson, Tiffany Frazer, Chad Frazer, Shaun Engelsrud, Jerad Liedberg and Kelly Liedberg. Interment was in Bethania Cemetery in Marsh Grove Township of Marshall County.

Ruby Windahl Engelsrud was born on May 5, 1919, the daughter of John and Julia (Elseth) Windahl, in Argyle. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. After the death of her mother, she stayed with relatives and was raised by her aun Hilma Stolaas. She attended school in Argyle and Newfolden and worked in her aunt's café.

On June 18, 1938, she was united in marriage to Conrad Engelsrud in Newfolden. The couple made their home in Marsh Grove Township. Ruby was a member of the Bethania Free Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid, Sunday School and Trumpet of Truth radio program. She was employed at Rose's Café and the Land O'Lakes Turkey Plant before her retirement. She enjoyed her family and friends, music, flowers, pets, and her hobby, baking cookies for the Newfolden Co-op Oil.

Survivors include a daugher, Eunice (Rodney) Liedberg of Newfolden; five grandchildren; a son-in-law; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad; daughter, Beverly Folden; a son, Donald; a granddaughter; her parents; sisters, Alice Erickson and Hazel Windahl; brother, Clayton Windahl; and a sister-in-law. A00003B2003AR09
