Superior,
Wis. - Ray Ellingson, 88, formerly of Thief
River Falls, died on Friday, March 20, 2004 at his
residence in Superior, Wis.
A
private family funeral service will be held at the
Downs-LeSage Funeral Home in Superior.
Ray
Ellingson was born on March 30, 1915, the son of
Andrew and Signe (Sigurdson) Ellingson.
Ray
served his country in the U.S. Army during World
War II and was a prisoner of war during that time.
Ray
married Thelma Bratland on June 21, 1941 in Thief
River Falls and recently celebrated 62 years of
marriage.
Ray
was employed as a laborer by the U.S. Steel Plant
in Duluth for many years.
He
enjoyed playing banjo for his family and
friends.
He
was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church; a member
of the former Henry S. Blomberg VFW Post 847, now
the Thomas F. Stein VFW Post 1091; and the United
Steelworkers Union affiliated with the steel plant.
Survivors
include his wife; a daughter Norma Nyberg of
Superior; one sister Almira Joanis of Missouri; two
grandsons; one great-grandson; one
great-grand-daughter; and several nieces and
nephews.
He
was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Ellingson;
one sister, Alice Bratland; a twin brother, Norman;
and brothers Clarence and Leo Ellingson.
