Wallace Ekman, 73

Newfolden - Wallace Eckman, 73, died Sunday, December 2, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, at Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls with Rev. Raynard Huglen officiating.

Wallace Burland Ekman was born on October 12, 1928 to Martin and Anna (Berg) Ekman on the family farm near Newfolden. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Newfolden and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1947.

Wallace served in the U.S. Army from September 30, 1952 until his honorable discharge on October 29, 1953. He returned to Newfolden and took over the family farm. He continued to farm until the time of his death.

He enjoyed helping family and friends.

Survivors include several nephews and two sister-in-laws.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Virgil and Carmen Ekman; and a nephew.
