Ekman, 91
Newfolden
- Ernest Ekman, 91, died on Thursday, May 1,
2003 at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, May 6 at the
Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden with the Rev.
Gary Barrett officiating. Judy Hogberg was the
organist and a duet was performed by Emory and
Jennifer Flaten. Casketbearers were Clifford Dahle,
James Hjelle, Glenn Ekman, Rodney Liedberg, Hilton
Hjelle, Jerry Gillund and David Lokstad. Interment
was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Newfolden.
Ernest
Willie Ekman was born on February 10, 1912, the son
of Nils and Mary Helen (Berg) Ekman, in New Folden
Township of Marshall County. He was baptized and
confirmed in the Christian faith at the Mission
Free Church and attended school in Newfolden. He
stayed to work on the family farm, where he farmed
his entire life. He loved to feed the deer in his
backyard. Ernest was a member of the Evangelical
Free Church in Newfolden.
Survivors
include one brother, Cecil of St. Louis, Mo.; and
one sister, Hazel (John) Ristau of Thornton,
Colo.
Ernest
was preceded in death by his parents; three
brothers, Walter, Oscar and Arthur Ekman; and four
sisters, Clarice Donarski, Irene Jansen, Myrtle
McKivor and Inga Ekman. A00003B2003MY07
