Forks, N.D. - Madeleine "Madge" Ecklund, 88,
died Thursday, December 6, 2001 at Village Square
in Grand Forks, N.D.
Services
were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 10, at
St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks.
Interment was in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in
Thief River Falls with Norman Funeral Home of Grand
Forks in charge of the arrangements.
Madeleine
Helen Cleary was born on April 28, 1913 in Calvin,
N.D., the daughter of John and Katie (Carey)
Cleary. The family moved to Walhalla, N.D. where
Madeleine attended high school and then to Grand
Forks where she graduated from St. James Academy in
1931. Madeleine moved to Fargo where she worked as
a clerk at Broadway Pharmacy.
On
September 2, 1935, she married Lawrence Ecklund in
Fargo. The couple moved to Thief River Falls where
Madeleine worked as a clerk at J&B Drug Store.
Lawrence died on September 30, 1972. She moved to
Fargo where she was active as a sacristan and lay
minister at Nativity Catholic Church. In 1999, she
moved to Grand Forks.
Madeleine
is survived by three sisters, LaRaine Dubourt of
Williston, N.D., Frances (Dale) Howard of Fargo,
N.D. and Muriel (Robert) Saumer of Grand Forks,
N.D.
She
was preceded in death by her husband; parents;
three sisters, Ethel, Evelyn and Marie; and three
brothers, Leonard, Delbert and David.
