Goodridge
- Irving Easthouse, 80, died on Wednesday,
January 7, 2004 at his home in Goodridge.
Funeral
services were held on
Saturday,
Jan. 10, at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge,
with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Casket bearers
included Donald Johnson, Eldon Johnson, Leon
Johnson, Brian Byklum, Chad Johnson, Josh
Easthouse. Military honors were provided by Thief
River Falls American Legion and the VFW. Interment
was at the Goodridge Cemetery in Goodridge.
Irving
Sidney Easthouse was born on November 11, 1923 in
Duluth, the son of Ole and Anne Johanna (Tollefson)
Easthouse. He was baptized on July 30, 1959 at Zion
Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, which was
affiliated with First Lutheran Church in Goodridge.
He attended Goodridge School, graduating from
Goodridge High School in 1942. He volunteered to
serve his Country twice. He entered the United
States Navy on May 11, 1943, where he served in
Philippines, New Guinea, and Australia. He
completed his Submarine School on March 6, 1944. He
was honorably discharged on April 10, 1946. Irving
entered the United States Air Force during the
Korean War and was honorably discharged on December
7, 1953. While in the Air Force he was a mechanic
in Rapid City, S.D., where he worked on B-52's.
Irving
was united in marriage to Florence Johnson on May
5, 1955 in Coon Rapids. The couple made their home
in Goodridge their entire life. He was a Rural Mail
Carrier for 30 years. He put on over one million
miles without an accident through his career. He
retired in July of 1985.
Irving
enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, following sports
at Goodridge High School, snowmobiling, and
camping. He loved spending time outdoors.
He
was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he had
served as treasurer. He was on the Goodridge Fire
Department for 40 years, Goodridge City Council for
several years and was a member of the Thief River
Falls American Legion.
Irving
is survived by his wife, Florence of Goodridge;
four children, Karen (Joe) Kertz of Edinburg, N.D.,
Rick Easthouse of Salol, Doug (Wendi) Easthouse of
Baudette and Darin Easthouse of Fargo, N.D.; eight
grandchildren; one brother, Howard (Barbara)
Easthouse of Coon Rapids; one sister, Carole (Ted)
Larson of Plymouth; one sister-in-law JoAnn
Easthouse of St. Louis Park and several nieces and
nephews.
He
was preceded in death by an infant son Gary; his
parents, Ole and Anne Easthouse; and one brother
