River Falls - Louise Duquette, 82, died on
Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at Northwest Medical
Center in Thief River Falls.
Mass
of Christian Burial was
held
on Saturday, August 16 at St. Bernard's Catholic
Church in Thief River Falls with the Rev. Tim McGee
officiating. Casketbearers were Ricky Duquette,
Tony Duquette, Larry Duquette, Jerry Plante,
Charles Vanyo and Donald Theis. Interment was in
St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Plummer.
Louise
A. Duquette was born in Drayton, N.D., on December
14, 1920, the daughter of Ernest and Dellina
(Chounard) Duquette. She attended country school in
Drayton. When she was younger, she helped area
farmers shocking corn and harvesting. Louise moved
to Grand Forks, N.D., in 1947, where she worked for
Eddy's Bakery and Black's Bakery. She also worked
at the Northern Hotel and the Dakota Hotel as a
chamber maid and housekeeper. In 1956, she moved to
Plummer, where she helped care for her family
members. She moved to Thief River Falls in
1979.
Louise
loved to sew her own clothes, make quilts, crochet,
needlework and enjoyed gardening and flowers. She
especially loved to raise ducks every year on the
farm. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic
Church.
Survivors
include four brothers and sisters, Edward Duquette
of Bemidji, Paul (Violet) Duquette of Park Rapids,
George (Geraldine) Duquette of Thief River Falls
and Cecelia (Norbert) Vanyo of East Grand Forks;
and many nieces and nephews.
Louise
was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters,
Elizabeth, Helen, Marion and Delphine; and one
sister-in-law, Carol.
