Fosston
- Marvin Dunrud, 77, of Fosston, died on
Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003 at the First Care Nursing Home
in Fosston. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.
on
Thursday Nov. 6, at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully
with Joyce Brinkman and Michael Sletto officiating.
Interment was held in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery,
rural Gonvick.
Marvin
Elmer Dunrud was born on March 8, 1926 in Gully, to
parents Martin and Emma (Berg) Dunrud. He grew up
in Gully and attended school in Gully and Gonvick.
Marvin entered the U.S. Army in 1950, and served as
a truck driver in Germany. He received an honorable
discharge, and returned to Minnesota, where he
drove truck for Land O'Lakes in Fosston, Swanson
Paving of Minneapolis, and at the missile sites in
North Dakota.
Marvin
was united in marriage to Catherine Schmit on Jan.
10, 1956, in Moorhead. Marvin and Catherine resided
and raised their family in Queen Township, rural
Fosston. Together, they farmed and operated a
custom grain hauling business, retiring in 1989.
Marvin was a lifelong hunter and trapper, with a
deep appreciation for nature and the great
outdoors. He always enjoyed the time spent visiting
and playing cards with family and friends.
He
was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church until its
closing, and was currently a member of Lund
Lutheran Church in Gully.
Survivors
include his five children, Duane (Annette) of
Detroit Lakes, Linda (Carter) Torgerson of Grygla,
Darlene (Dick) Roue of Fosston, David of Grygla,
Brenda (Darwin) Faldet of Gonvick and nine
grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, and his
wife.
