Red
Lake Falls - Jerome "Jay" Ducharme, 78, died
Sunday, September 16, 2001 at Altru Hospital in
Grand Forks, N.D.
Mass
of Christian burial will be
held
at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with
Father Tim Bushy officiating. Gemma Drees will be
the organist, and special music will be provided by
St. Joseph's Church Choir. Casketbearers will be
Dale Ducharme, Allen Ducharme, Gary Pahlen Sr.,
Gary Pahlen Jr., Jason Peterson, Jay Pahlen, Jamie
Peterson and Elmer Ducharme. Honorary casketbearers
will be all of Jay's granddaughters and
great-grandchildren. Interment will be in St.
Anthony's Catholic Cemetery at
Terrebonne.
Visitation
will be held today (Wednesday, September 19) from 5
to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at
Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls.
Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to
services at the church.
Jerome
"Jay" Ducharme was born on August 13, 1923 to
Rudolph and Cora (Callier) Ducharme in Red Lake
County where he grew up and attended
school.
On
November 3, 1956, Jerome was united in marriage to
Dorothy Cameron in Red Lake Falls. Jerome worked
for Central Bi-Products in Red Lake Falls for many
years. He also owned and operated the Spot Bar in
Red Lake Falls for several years. He worked
part-time for the City of Red Lake Falls until his
retirement.
He
was an avid wrestling fan who enjoyed dancing,
visiting with friends, watching golf and Tiger
Woods on television, serving as his family's local
newscaster and keeping them up on newsworthy events
and spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerome
is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Gary) Pahlen
and Gloria Peterson, both of Red Lake Falls; two
sons, Dale Ducharme of Grand Forks, N.D. and Allen
(Cindy) Ducharme of Red Lake Falls; seven
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother,
Elmer Ducharme of Red Lake Falls; and two sisters,
Emelda Thompson of Seattle, Wash. and Carol (Don)
Fontaine of Greenwood, Wisc.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and two
sisters, Beatrice Desautel and Laura Haupt.
