Plummer
- Leo Donarski, 73, died on Thursday, May 1,
2003, at his home in Plummer.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, May 5 at the
Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston.
Interment was in Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston with
military honors accorded by the Crookston Veterans
Council.
Leo
Stephen Donarski was born on December 18, 1929, the
son of Frank and Bella (Mackowick) Donarski, in
Middle River. He grew up in the Middle River area
where he attended school. Leo served in the U.S.
Army from 1946 until 1948 and had served in
Yugoslavia. After his honorable discharge, he
returned to this area.
In 1964,
Leo married Jean Marie Piper in South Dakota. The
couple lived most of their lives in the Crookston
area. Over the years, Leo worked as a cab driver,
drove truck for a gravel company, and also did farm
labor. He was very artistic, both drawing and
singing and playing guitar.
Survivors
include four daughters, Deneese (Mark) Thoreson of
Crookston, Mary Donarski of East Grand Forks, Alisa
Donarski of Seattle, Wash., and Tonia Donarski of
Grand Forks, N.D.; nine grandchildren; three
brothers, Ronald (Mary Jean) of Crookston, Adolph
(Bernetta) of Crookson, and Frank, Jr., (Elaine) of
Grand Forks, N.D.; two sisters, Mary Lou (Ronald)
Gruhot, and Carol (Denis) Kawlewski, both of
Crookston; and many nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Leo was
preceded in death by his wife, Jean Marie; his
parents; and two brothers, Albert and
Ervin.
