Harold Donaldson, 69

Strandquist - Harold Donaldson, 69, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, N.D.

Funeral services were held Donaldson, Harold Photo Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist, with Reverend Curtis Matz officiating. Casket bearers included Jeffrey Donaldson, Jerry Donaldson, Harold Donaldson Jr., Brent Donaldson, Jamie Donaldson, Roger Carlson, Marlin Nelson and Loyal Lefrooth. Interment was held at Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery in rural Strandquist.

Harold Donaldson was born January 21, 1934 in Strandquist, the son of James and Nicholina (Rust) Donaldson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. He grew up and attended school at Strandquist. In 1951, Harold entered and served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on July 31, 1959.

On June 29, 1957, Harold was united in marriage to Delores Ruth Grossman in Wirt. The couple resided at Wirt and later moved to Strandquist, where they have since resided. Harold worked in road construction, did carpentry work, such as building houses and retired from American Crystal Sugar Company.

He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and the Strandquist American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, painting, reading and puzzles.

Survivors included five sons, Jeffrey (Margaret) of Karlstad, Jerry (Angela) of Morrison, Ontario, Canada, Harold (Melinda) of Strandquist, Brent (RaChelle) of Badger, and Jamie of Roseau; three daughters, Connie (Roger) Carlson of Greeley, Colo., Doreen (Marlin) Nelson of Karlstad, and Shelly (Loyal) Lefrooth of Strandquist; 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; one grandson; his parents; a sister, Francis Anderson; and brothers, James and Leslie.
