Lyless Dokken, 80

Red Lake Falls - Lyless Dokken, 80, formerly of Roseau, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls. Dokken obit

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at Pinecreek Lutheran Church, rural Roseau, with Rev. Gary Graff officiating. Kay Wood was the organist, and Ann Haaby was the soloist. Casketbearers were Tim Dokken, Noel Dokken, Andrew Bertilrud, Rob Novak, Steven Kvien, and Kelman Kvien. Interment was in Pinecreek Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Service of Red Lake Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Lyless Laurine Johnson was born on July 19, 1921 in Clearbrook, the daughter of Lawrence and Laura (Kvien) Johnson. She lived with her family in Pinecreek where she attended a rural school. Lyless graduated from Roseau High School in 1939.

On December 15, 1942, Lyless was united in marriage to Gilmore Dokken in Fresno, Calif. Following the war, the couple returned to Minnesota. Lyless worked as the Postmistress at the Pinecreek Post Office. Later she worked as an insurance clerk at the Delmore Clinic in Roseau. She retired in 1986. After Gilmore's death in 1992, she moved to Roseau. She had resided at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls since November of 1997.

Lyless was a member of the Ross School District 683 school board and was very active in church activities, including the Pinecreek Ladies Aid. She was also a 4-H leader for many years.

She enjoyed reading, word games, traveling, and especially, spending time with her family and friends.

Lyless is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Allen) Bertilrud of Red Lake Falls; three sons, Lynn (Diane) of Montgomery, Jeff of Sauk Rapids, and Brad of Grand Forks, N.D.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. A00003B2002MR20
