Greenbush
- Elmer Dokken, 80, died on Wednesday, February
12, 2003 in the Karlstad Healthcare Center in
Karlstad.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, February 16 at Oiland
Lutheran Church with the Rev. LeRoy Flickinger
officiating. Music was provided by Linda Sovde,
Howard Hodne, Lois Peterson and Lois Anderson.
Casketbearers were Loyd Melby, Vernon Melby, Harvey
Melby, Donald Melby, Gary Melby, Stanley Melby, Bob
Nelson and Rodney Hovet. Honorary casketbearers
were Maynard Docken and Elmer's
grandchildren.
Elmer
George Dokken was born on April 23, 1922, the son
of Gunder and Gena (Anderson) Dokken near
Juneberry. He grew up and attended school at home.
He farmed and drove school bus for several years.
In
1944, he married Nettie Krawchuk. Nettie died in
1971. Elmer drove bulk milk truck for many
years.
On
January 8, 1976, he married Karen Geatz in Grand
Forks, N.D. The couple worked at the Norman Funeral
Home in Grand Forks, N.D. for ten years. Elmer
enjoyed woodworking and music.
Survivors
include his wife, Karen of Greenbush; three sons,
Larry (Wanda) of Williston, N.D., David (Deb) of
Greenbush, and Curtis (Vicki) of Williston, N.D.;
12 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Emma (Milllard) Melby of Badger.
Elmer
was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie; and six
sisters, Olga Melby, Selma Melby, Tilda Melby,
Myrtle Hovet, Mabel Foster and Ellen Melby.
