Lake Falls - George Dessellier, 71, died on
Saturday, November 15, 2003 at the Hillcrest
Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls. Mass of Christian
Burial
was held on Tuesday, November 18, at St. Frances
Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, with Father John
Kleinwachter, presiding. Casket bearers included
Joe Dessellier, Matt Schmit, Casey Roisland, Mike
Schmit, Andy Dessellier, Kory Brinkman, Brian
Brinkman, Nick Schmit, Bobby Schmit, Joe Brinkman
and Jake Brinkman. Interment was held in the St.
Frances Xavier Catholic Cemetery, rural Oklee.
George
Dessellier was born on November 27, 1931 in Oklee,
the son of Andrew and Alexina (Carriere)
Dessellier. He was raised and attended school in
Oklee. George was baptized and confirmed in St.
Frances Xavier Catholic Church. He served his
country during the Korean War where he found a life
long friend Porter Popple.
On
November 10, 1954, he was united in marriage to
Irene Cote in Terrebonne. The couple lived in
Oklee, where he worked various jobs including the
Oklee Lumber Yard for 44 years.
George
was a member of St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church,
VFW in Thief River Falls and American Legion in
Oklee. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing,
playing bingo, gardening, canning, playing cards
and most of all spending time with his
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
George
is survived by his wife Irene; children Jim
Dessellier of Oklee, Mike (Grace) Dessellier of
Oklee, Diane Dessellier of Thief River Falls, Doris
Dessellier of Oklee, Dorene Dessellier of Oklee,
Betty (David) Brinkman of Fosston, Shirley
(Orville) Brinkman of Trail, Linda (Keven) Roisland
of Oklee, Audrey (John) Schmit of Trail; 6
granddaughters; 11 grandsons; 4 great grandsons;
brothers and sisters Ceclia (Selmer) Christianson
of Oklee, Carol (Clayton) Haugen of Oklee, Vincent
(Shirley) Dessellier of Cambridge, Eugene
(Margaret) Dessellier of Babbit, Dola (Clarence)
Bakken of Iron Range, Alex (Darlene) Dessellier of
Moorhead, Mae Moran of Crookston, Joyce Tougas of
Oklee, Louis (Carolyn) Dessellier of Coon Rapids,
David (Brandi) Dessellier of Grand Forks, Maire
Hruby of Fergus Falls, Ernest Dessellier of Oklee
and life long friend Porter Popple.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, infant
daughter Mary, brothers Paul and Onazime; sisters
Rosalie Demaris and Geraldine Dessellier.
