Herbert Derosier, 72

Red Lake Falls - Herbert "Herb" Derosier, 71, died on Monday, September 9, 2002 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Herb Derosier

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 13 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Val Gagnon was the organist and Donna Fossum and Lori Melby provided special music. Mass servers were Aaron Derosier and Tyler Larson and Eucheristic ministers were Doug Derosier, JoAnne Derosier and Karen Larson. Tammy Paradis was the reader. Casketbearers were Harold Derosier, Harvey Hagl, Dave Martell, Jake Martell, George Olson and Jerry Perreault. Honorary casketbearers were all of Herb's grandchildren. Interment was in St Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Terrebonne with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post #22 of Red Lake Falls.

Herbert Joseph Derosier was born on December 11, 1930, the son of Joseph and Minnie (LaCoursiere) Derosier in Terrebonne. He was raised there and attended Bugalo School in Terrebonne. Herb entered the United States Air Force on September 20, 1950 and served until his honorable discharge on September 19, 1951. Herb worked in the mines in Hibbing for a time, then in 1961, he bought Art Laundry Trucking. In 1965, he moved his family and business to Brooks. On November 5, 1971, he was sworn in as deputy sheriff, which he served as for two years. In 1977, he moved to the family farm near Terrebonne where he farmed and drove truck. He also worked for a time at the Beet Plant in Crookston. His favorite occupation was trucking, which he did for 35 years until his retirement in 1977.

Herb loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and being in the outdoors. He was a member of the American Legion Post #22 in Red Lake Falls and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Terrebonne and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks.

Survivors include his children, Tony (Julie) of Erskine, Debra (Jeff) Champagne of Brooks, Tom of Milwaukee, Wisc., Dale Juneau of Red Lake Falls, Jerry Juneau of Red Lake Falls, Dawn (Leif) Fore of Oklee, Joseph of Phoenix, Ariz., and special family friend, Tina Flynn of Highmore, S.D.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene (Dory) Kazmeirzak of Scandia, Marcella Laydecker of Overland Park, Kan. and Noella Delorme of Thief River Falls; and a step-sister, Bernice Valley of Red Lake Falls.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Joseph Derosier; and brothers, Vern and Don. A00003B2002SP18
