- Vivian Demarais, 86, of Crookston, died on
Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Villa St. Vincent
Nursing Home in Crookston.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, August 13 at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Crookston. Interment was in
Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston.
Vivian
Strand was born on November 10, 1915, the daughter
of Richard and Karoline (Paasche) Strand in
Crookston. She was baptized and confirmed in the
Lutheran faith and attended Crookston
schools.
On
April 25, 1936, Vivian was united in marriage to
Lewie Demarais at St. Anne's parsonage in
Crookston. The couple farmed in Kertsonville
Township for many years, retiring in 1975. In 1984,
they moved into Crookston. Lewie passed away on
January 12, 1987.
Vivian
was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Top
Twenty Homemakers Club and served on the Riverview
Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliaries.
Survivors
include three sons, Lewie Jr. (Shirley) of
Mansfield, Texas, David (Betsie) of Fargo, N.D. and
Keith (Karen) of Plummer; four daughters, Carol
(Eugene) Solheim of Crookston, Kathy (James) Hanson
of Watertown, S.D., Lois (Michael) Yarborough of
Waxahachie, Texas and Robin (Todd) Tollefson of
Beltrami; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren;
a sister, Betty Strand of Moorhead; a brother, Dick
Strand of Fergus Falls; a sister-in-law; a niece
that was raised as a sister, Isabel Tronson of
Crookston; and many other nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Vivian
was preceded in death by her husband, Lewie; her
parents; a grandson; a brother, Rugnar Strand; and
sisters, Mabel Fiemann, Borgal Madson, Mathea
Johnson and Agnes Gramer.
