Cruz, Calif. - Beatrice M. Dahl, 90, of Santa
Cruz, Calif., died on March 6, 2004.
Beatrice
was born June 14, 1913, to Joseph and Bessie
Hoffman. She grew up in the Goodridge area, moved
to Grand Forks, N.D. and married Ben Meblin in the
early '30s.
After
Ben's death in the '40s, Bea married Earl Dahl.
They traveled the United States, settling in
Chicago, where they operated a beauty salon on
Michigan Ave. In the mid 1950s they moved to
California and purchased a motel.
After
selling the motel, Bea spent most of her time
growing fruit trees and flowers, plus providing
habitation and food for various animals and birds
that visited her back yard. Her love of animals and
her pets in particular was a distinguishing
trait.
Survivors
include her husband Earl Dahl; her stepson, Duane
(Nancy) Dahl; brother, John (Jeanette) Hoffman of
Goodridge; a sister-in-law, Hilda Hoffman of Thief
River Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her sister
Marie Rehm; and her brother Oldrick Hoffman.
