Red Lake Falls - Carol Columbus, 58, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at her home in Red Lake Falls.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2004, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls. Casket bearers were Maurice Bjorgan, Gerald VanEmmerick, Dean Cross, Richard Olson, Tom Mullen and Richard Larson

Carol Jean Burdick was born on July 19, 1946 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Emil and Clara (Eftalund) Burdick. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, and attended elementary school and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.

Carol was united in marriage on May 20, 1977 to John Columbus in Willow Lake, S.D.

Carol enjoyed being a housewife. She was also the Senior Meals coordinator for Tri-Valley Opportunity Council and head cook for the senior meals in Red Lake Falls.

She loved to play golf, enjoyed camping and baking and especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Bethany Circle Group, the American Legion Auxiliary for 32 years, the Red Hat Society and Christian Women of Thief River Falls. She also was a member of Hillcrest Nursing Home Auxiliary for many years.

Carol is survived by her husband, John of Red Lake Falls; two children: Duanna (Chris) Fike of Fredericksburg, Va., and Dawn (Brad) Swenson of Red Lake Falls; three grandchildren; two sisters: Charlotte Marquette of Gillette, Wyo., and Murk (Dean) Hauglid of Fargo, N.D; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard Burdick and one sister, Renae Anderson. A00003B2004AG04
