Patricia Collister, 62

Fruita, Colo. - Patricia "Pat Collister, 63, died Tuesday, February 5, 2001.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 12 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Interment was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Patricia Jean Clinton was born on May 5, 1938 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Frank and LaVaun Clinton. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956 and attended Iowa State University where she majored in physical education and minored in art and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education in 1960.

For five years, Pat taught in Skokie, Ill. In the fall of 1966 she began teaching physical education at Fruita Monument High School. She taught in Fruita for several years.

In June of 1967, she married Francis Lee Collister. In 1970, Pat was the first Powderhorn director and was the founder of its handicap ski program. She and Glenda Gausen designed logos for wheelchair ski pennies to benefit handicapped skiers. Pat was a foster parent for four years. She directed ski school until 1985.

She enjoyed organic gardening, bridge and cooking.

Pat is survived by her father, Frank Clinton of Fruita.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father-in-law.
