Daryl Colden, 64

Warroad - Daryl E. Colden, 64, died on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at his home in rural Warroad.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 12 at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Daryl E. Colden was born on November 19, 1938, the son of Ervin and Gertrude (Beseman) Colden in Warroad. He graduated from Warroad High School in 1956. In 1960, he married Sharon Johnston. The couple had four children.

On December 16, 1977, Daryl married Shirley Bursch. He worked at Marvin Windows, drove truck in St. Paul, then moved to Oregon, where he worked in a wood factory. He also worked in carpentry. In 1980, he and Shirley moved to Thief River Falls. In 1984, the couple bought Kwik Strip, a business in Thief River Falls, where they stripped, refinished and fixed furniture.

Daryl enjoyed hunting, western movies, playing the guitar, music, yard work, and going for drives. He also loved the holidays. He enjoyed Easter the most and hid eggs and candy around his yard for the family to find.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons, Lonny of Thief River Falls, Bret of Red Lake Falls and Bart of Moorhead; daughters, Ardella (Jon) Smith of Rockford and Valerie (Dave) Jorstad of Thief River Falls; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Sheldon (Sharon) of Warroad; and a daughter-in-law.

Daryl was preceded in death by his son, Lenny; brothers, Vernon and Harold Fish; and a sister, Ramona Storey. A00003B2002DC18
