Trail
- Algernon Clark Jr., 54, died Wednesday, April
18, 2001 at his home in Trail.
Memorial
services were held Monday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at
the Clark home near Trail. Rev. Terry Olson
officiated. Military rites were provided by Gonvick
American Legion Post 304 and Trail VFW Post 6426.
Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston was in
charge of the arrangements.
Algernon
Wilson Clark was born on July 3, 1946 in
Philadelphia, Penn., the son of Algernon and Violet
(Anderson) Clark. He graduated from Oklee High
School and attended classes at Bemidji State
College. On December 29, 1965, Al was drafted into
the U.S. Army. He spent a year in Thailand and
received the Defense Service Medal for sharpshooter
before his honorable discharge on November 3, 1967.
He was employed in Minneapolis for a number of
years, working in refrigeration, air conditioning
and sheet metal. He also worked in the insurance
business.
Al
met Leasha Hanson in 1980 in Leader, and they moved
to Trail in 1986. The couple married in 1992. They
owned and operated a bard and restaurant, The
Trails End, in Trail. Al purchased a farm two miles
east of Trail where he enjoyed beef ranching and
did custom haying and trucking.
He
also enjoyed the outdoors, and antique cars and
trucks were among his many hobbies.
Al
is survived by his wife, Leasha Clark; a daughter,
Angie Clark of Trail; a son, Nick Clark of Trail; a
grandson; his mother, Violet Clark of Trail; six
brothers, Henry (Wilma) Clark of Two Harbors,
Timothy (Carolyn) Clark of Elk River, Richard
(Carol) Clark of Thief River Falls, Edward (Rhonda)
Clark of Elk River, David Clark of Crystal and
Matthew Clark of Trail; two sisters, Nadine (Jim)
Peterson of Coon Rapids and Kathleen (John)
Chamberlain of Fergus Falls; and several nieces,
nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
He
was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Clark;
his father; a brother, Mark; his grandparents; and
several aunts and uncles.
