Joan
Christianson, 67
Kenmare,
N.D. - Joan Ardell Christianson, 67, died on
Friday, April 4, 2003 in the Kenmare
Hospital.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday,
April 9 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare,
N.D. Interment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery in
Kenmare.
Joan was
born on August 5, 1935, the daughter of Guy and
Gladys (Donnelly) Johnsen, in Kenmare. She was a
1953 graduate of Kenmare High School and Interstate
Business College of Fargo.
On
December 30, 1956, she was united in marriage to
Ellis Christianson. The couple lived on a farm
southwest of Kenmare. Joan was an active member of
the community. She served her church as a member of
the Dorcas Circle and the quilters group. She was
also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for 25 years,
the Eastern Star, the Birthday Club, the Blind Date
Club, and was an advisor to the Rainbow Girls. Joan
worked with the Soil Conservation Service for
several years, planting trees. She enjoyed outdoor
work, driving the tractor and combine, cutting the
grass, and planting and tending to her garden. She
also enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time
with her grandchildren. Joan and Ellis enjoyed
travelling together, camping and
boating.
Survivors
include her husband, Ellis of Kenmare; son Greg of
Kenmare; daughter, Brenda (Terry) Marr of Wichita,
Kan.; her mother, Gladys Johnsen of Kenmare; two
brothers, Don (Leanore) Johnsen of Thief River
Falls, and Lyle (Sue) Johnsen of Marshall; two
sisters-in-law; and many nieces and
nephews.
Joan was
preceded in death by her father, Guy.
