Varadeen Christensen, 66

West Fargo, N.D. - Varadeen E. Christensen, 66, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 23, at Wild Rice Lutheran Church at rural Twin Valley. Burial was in Wild Rice Lutheran Cemetery at rural Twin Valley with Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home of Fargo in charge of the arrangements.

Varadeen E. Asp was born on June 9, 1934 in the Royal area of Pennington county, the daughter of Walter and Muriel (Phelps) Asp. She attended school in Goodridge.

In 1952, she married Garfield Syverson at Thief River Falls where they made their home. In 1962, Varadeen moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area.

In 1968, she married Arnold Christensen at Aberdeen, S.D. In 1994, they moved to West Fargo.

Varadeen is survived by her husband, Arnold of West Fargo, N.D.; three sons, Duane Syverson of Oakfield, Tenn., Karmith Christensen of West Fargo and Delane (Lara) Christensen of Fargo; a daughter, Valorie (Mike) Eklund of Twin Valley; four stepchildren, Dennis (Doreen) Christensen of Cody, Wyo., Richard Christensen of Frazee, Leslie (Wendy) Christensen of Miami, Fla. and Avis (Dave) Quinette of West Fargo; two sisters, Caroline (Kenneth) Carlson of Farmington and Johanna (Larry) Krueger of Twin Valley; three brothers, Jim (Jeanette) Asp of Thief River Falls, Joseph (Sue) Asp of Goodridge and Jonathan Asp of Roosevelt; six grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, an infant daughter, and two brothers, Walter Asp Jr. and Frank Asp.
