Mae Champagne, 89

Snowhill, N.C. - Mae Champagne, 89, formerly of Brooks, died on November 26, 2002.

Funeral services will be held on December 28 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Snowhill, N.C. A memorial service will also be held in Las Vegas, Nev. on May 2, 2003 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, where her ashes will be put into the cript at Palm Mortuary.

Mae was born on September 25, 1919, the daughter of Louis Perrault and Edith Gaudette, on a farm near Brooks. She married Wallace Champagne on November 26, 1930. She spent many years working as a cook and chef for the public school system in Brooks. Later, she moved to Grand Forks, N.D., where she worked as a chef. She moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where she worked for more than 25 years as a chef until her retirement. She has lived with her son, Bernard in Snowhill, N.C. for the past six years.

Mae loved her garden and growing her own vegetables and flowers.

Survivors include six children, Euella (Tony) Galassa of Florence, Ore., Doreen (Lory) Bryant of Moreno Valley, Calif., Bernard (Hilda Grace Moore) of Snowhill, N.C., Bonita (Lawrence) Langer of Hager City, Wisc., Arnold Champagne of San Francisco, Calif. and Elizabeth (Thomas) Yoder of Iowa Park, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Viola Mostad of Grand Forks, N.D.
