Rev. Ivan T. Carlson, 86

Longville - Reverend Ivan T. Carlson, 86, formerly of Thief River Falls, died on Monday, July 22, 2002 at the Nursing Home in Pine River. Ivan Carlson

Funeral services were held Friday, July 26 at Longville Bible Chapel in Longville with Rev. Levi Durfey and Rev. Bill Payne officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Longville.

Ivan Theodore Carlson was born on October 17, 1915, the son of Albin and Hildur Carlson, in Oakland, Neb. He graduated from Wayne High School in Wayne, Neb. in 1933. He was called to ministry at a young age and attended the University of Minnesota, St. Paul Bible College. He also studied electronics.

Ivan served several churches in Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. His last pastorate was at the Evangelical Free Church of Thief River Falls from 1968 to 1977. Later, he was pastor at Lowell and Cherokee Village in Arkansas.

On December 28, 1938, Ivan was united in marriage to Florence Bloom of Albert City, Iowa. They were married for 63 years.

Survivors include Ivan's wife, Florence of Pine River; five sons, Jim (JoAnn) of Minnetonka, Dan (Lee Ann) of Eden Prairie, Tim (Carol Ann) of Snohomish, Wash., Jon of Thief River Falls, and Joel of Wabasha; two daughters, Corelie Carlon of St. Louis Park, and Roselyn (Jay) Riffle of Hackensack; twenty grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one brother, Art (Betty) of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Verna (Virgil) Kardell of Wayne, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; three brothers, Loren, Reuben and Harold; two sisters, Eunice Staire and Ruth Gunderson; and two brothers-in-law.
