Gary "Doc" Carlson, 64

Carlson obit Thief River Falls - Gary "Doc" Carlson, 64, died Friday, July 27, 2001 at his home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Terry Olson officiating. Wanda Vigness was the organist, and Mike Sorteberg was the soloist. Casketbearers were LaVerne Hamre, Mike Sorteberg, Don Langevin, Jason Hermanson, Mark Hermanson and Mike Hermanson. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Ken Carlson was born on August 16, 1936 in Thief River Falls, the son of Martin Emmitt and Winnifred Elizabeth (Sculthorp) Carlson. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church and attended Knox Elementary and Lincoln High School. He served in the National Guard.

On December 12, 1978, Gary was united in marriage to Sandra Hermanson at Thief River Falls where the couple had since resided. Gary was employed at Arctic Enterprises, Hartz Wholesale, Soo Line Railroad and the Thief River Falls Sanitation Department in addition to doing a variety of odd jobs.

He enjoyed baseball, softball, football, biking, listening to music, visiting with his neighbors and talking about the old days.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sandra of Thief River Falls; three daughters, Kimberly, Patricia and Lisa Carlson, all of Thief River Falls; two sisters, Beverly Carlson and Carol (Evans) Jones, both of St. Cloud; and two brothers, Bob (Vivian) Carlson of Thief River Falls and Jack (Phyllis) Carlson of Duluth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marjorie and Patti; and five brothers, Glenn, Myrle, Nick, Darell and one in infancy. A00003B2001AG01
