Theresa Cardinal, 75

Crookston - Theresa Cardinal, 75, died on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at Riverview Hospital, Crookston. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003 at St. Joseph's Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Lawrence Wagner officiating. Casket bearers include John Wright, Fred Landman, III, Wade Cardinal, Mark Larson, Marc Cardinal, Jason Cardinal, Bernie DeHate and Chris Cardinal. Interment was held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Theresa Mary Hagl was born Sept. 26, 1928 in Red Lake County, the daughter of Louis and Louella (Meyer) Hagl. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Faith. Theresa was raised and went to school in the Terrebonne area. She worked in Crookston at the hospital with the nuns.

On July 27, 1948, Theresa married Elmer "Pee Wee" Cardinal at St. Anthony's Church in Terrebonne. After her marriage, Theresa and Pee Wee lived in Red Lake Falls. In 1950, they moved their family to Chisholm where Pee Wee worked in the mines. They lived in Kinney and then settled in Buhl for a number of years.

Theresa was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom for several years. She later worked at the school in Buhl as a cook and in the café in Buhl. Her last job on the range was for the shirt factory in Chisholm. The family returned to Red Lake Falls in June of 1968. She worked for some of the resturants in Red Lake Falls and did sewing for Arctic Cat. She retired after a back injury.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Nothing meant more to her than her family and friends. Theresa loved to bake, especially pies, sew and craft. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Boy and Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader and was a member of the Sunshine Homemakers and St. Joseph's Church of Red Lake Falls.

Survivors include, her husband of 55 years; children and families, Joyce (Elvin "Bucky") Wright of Fertile, Janice (Fred Jr.) Landman of Red Lake Falls, Roger (Sally) Cardinal of Red Lake Falls, Linda (Jim) Tvedt of Red Lake Falls, Karen Audette and David Cardinal, both of Crookston, Dean (Wanda) Cardinal, and Jay (Carla) Cardinal both of Red Lake Falls, 23 grandchildren; 21-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Joe and Patsy Hagl, Harvey Hagl, Leonard "Pete" Hagl Elizabeth and James Sauve, Alfred Hagl, Margaret and Harold Kehn all Red Lake Falls and Clarice Vickery of St. Paul; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ernie (Anne) Cardinal of Brooks, Norman "Butch" Cardinal and Neolla Melby, all Crookston, Eleanor Derouin of Red Lake Falls, Loucille Theroux of Vancouver, Wash., Anne Cardinal of Elk River, Lorriane Cardinal of Everett, Wash., Ethel Herringbruck of Berkely, Calif., Alice Delage of Grand Forks, N.D. and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter; parents, sister, Josephine DeHaan and brother James Vickery. A00003B2003NV12
