Lillian Busse, 98

Thief River Falls - Lillian Busse, 98, died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at Busse obit 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Don Kirchner officiating. John Folland was the organist, and the soloist was Mike Lehrer.

Casketbearers were Jeff Langlie, Scott Langlie, Rick Langlie, Barry Johnson, Brian Ranum, and Brandon Langlie. Honorary casketbearers were Sheila Ranum, Lynette Johnson, Roxanne Nepper, Cindy Langlie, Chad Johnson, Terry Johnson, Casey Nepper, Taylor Nepper, Nathan Melek, Cainan Langlie, Joshua Langlie, Shanon Langlie, Samantha Langlie, Alex Langlie, Sierra Langlie, Baily Jo Ranum, and Jorde Ranum. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Lillian Irene Bertha Knaack was born on September 13, 1903 in Dorothy, the daughter of Alex and Hulda (Schultz) Knaack. She was baptized on November 8, 1903 and confirmed on July 30, 1917 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wylie. She attended school in Dorothy.

On July 14, 1927, Lillian was united in marriage to Albert Frederick Busse at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wylie. The couple resided in Polk County and later lived and farmed in Red Lake County and Pennington County. Lillian worked as a housekeeper. She also helped with all of the chores on the farm and took care of the farm when her husband was sick. Albert died in 1989. In 1991, Lillian moved to Valley Home, and in 1997, she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and its LWML Circle.

Lillian enjoyed crocheting and sewing, making and selling many doll clothes.

Survivors include a son, Norman (Shirley) Busse of Thief River Falls; a daughter, Ruby (Howard) Langlie of Thief River Falls; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Donna Emanuelson; a son-in-law, Carl Emanuelson; five grandchildren; her parents; a brother, Vernon Knaack; and a sister, Florens Knaack. A00003B2002FB20
