Thief
River Falls - Nicholas Burns, 15, died
Thursday, February 5, 2004 as a result of an
automobile accident.
Funeral
services were held at the Lincoln High School
Auditorium in Thief River Falls on Tuesday, Feb.
10, with Reverend Frank Ehling and Reverend Robert
Paulson officiating. Interment will be at Ebenezer
Church Cemetery in rural Oklee.
Nicholas
Burns was born October 27, 1988 in Thief River
Falls, the son of Rodney and Diane (Sletten) Burns.
He was baptized at Ebenezer Lutheran Church and
attended school in Thief River Falls.
Nicholas
enjoyed milking cows for Bruce, hauling grain,
plowing, cultivating, combining, being a carpenter
with Tony, four wheeling, anything outdoors, going
to Winger to purchase cattle, but most of all he
loved to fish and hunt with his brothers and
uncles, spending time with family and taking care
of his animals. He was always willing to help the
neighbors or anyone at a drop of a hat.
Nicholas
was a member of FFA and was his dad's shadow.
Survivors
include his parents Rodney and Diane Burns of Thief
River Falls; brothers and sisters Nicole (Tony)
Kiesow of Goodridge; Jeremy (Laurie) Burns of St.
Hilaire, Jared Burns of Thief River Falls and
Allison Burns of Thief River Falls; grandmother
Marilyn Sletten of Plummer; uncles Dean (Darlene
Vaselka) Sletten of Middle River, Jerry Sletten of
Fargo, N.D.; aunts Linda (Leonard) Johnson of
Boisie, Idaho, Mary Beth (Roy) Westlake of Plummer;
and Michael, Lenny, Wade and Amber.
He
was preceded by his grandparents Clarence Sletten
and Gerald and Fern Burns; sister Natalie and
