City, N.D. - Gerald W. Burns, 72, formerly of
Plummer, died on Friday, July 18, 2003 at Mercy
Hospital in Valley City, N.D.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, July 21 at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Valley City, N.D. Interment was
in Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo, N.D.
Gerald
was born in Buffalo, N.D., on August 2, 1930, the
son of William and Mathilda (Stansky) Burns. He
grew up and graduated from Buffalo High School.
Gerald then entered the US Air Force from 1949
until 1953. He then came back to Buffalo and
farmed.
On
September 15, 1954 he married Fern Grandahl in
Alice, N.D. Gerald continued to farm in the Buffalo
area until 1976, when he moved to Plummer and
farmed until 1984. He then moved to Minneapolis,
where he worked at Grand Prix Van Co. In 1990, he
moved to Valley City, where he lived with his
special friend, Eloise Dahl.
Survivors
include one son, Rodney (Diane) of Thief River
Falls; one daughter, Mary Beth (Roy) Westlake of
Plummer; special friend, Eloise Dahl of Valley
City, N.D.; step-children, Sandy (James) Mielke of
Aberdeen, S.D., Jerry (Michele) Dahl of Valley
City, N.D., Kathy Dahl of Jamestown, N.D., Mary
(Dale) Undem of Leal, N.D., Ron (Tracey) Dahl of
Fargo, N.D., and Jodi Patrick of Valley City, N.D.,
one brother, Thomas (Patricia) of Omaha, Neb.; one
sister, Mary Borgen of New York, N.Y.; one uncle
and one aunt; seven grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and 12
step-grandchildren.
