- Gerard Budziszewski, 85, died Thursday,
October 18, 2001 at his home at rural
Strandquist.
Services
were held at 10:30 a.m.
on
Monday, October 22, at Assumption Catholic Church
in Florian with Rev. August Gothman officiating.
Donalda Kuznia was the organist. Thomas
Budziszewski was the song leader, and Wendell
Budziszewski was the lector. Casketbearers were
Robert Blazejewski, Lawrence Dziengel, Dennis
Omdahl, Peter Stusynski, Thomas Budziszewski and
Gerald Birneking. Honorary bearers were Stella
Fitzsimmons, Annette Wawrzyniak and Anne Pfeiffer.
Interment was in Assumption Church Cemetery with
Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren in charge of
the arrangements.
Gerard
W. Budziszewski was born on September 28, 1916 at
rural Strandquist, the son of Anton and Mary
(Gratzek) Budziszewski. He spent his earlyyears in
the Strandquist area.
On
April 18, 1944, he married Florence Stusynski in
Florian. The couple resided at rural Strandquist
where they farmed. Florence died on October 14,
1963. In 1965, Gerard moved to the Twin Cities
where he worked as a janitor at St. Joseph's
Hospital until 1969 when he went to work as an
animal research technician at the University of
Minnesota.
Gerard
married Phyllis Conrad on November 22, 1975 in
Minneapolis. They moved to rural Strandquist in
1990.
He
enjoyed gardening, polka music, visiting with his
friends and especially, spending time with his
children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Gerard
is survived by his wife, Phyllis; a daughter,
RoseMary Budziszewski of St. Paul; two
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister,
Ludwina Budziszewski of Cottage Grove; two
brothers, Wendell (Muriel) Budziszewski of St. Paul
and Thomas Budziszewski of Cottage Grove; a
daughter-in-law, Carolyn Budziszewski of Westerly,
R.I.; and many nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his first
wife; a son, Joseph; a daughter, Mary; a sister,
Ursula; and two brothers, John and Steve.
