Joel Bruggeman, 44

Omaha, Neb. - Joel Bruggeman, 44, formerly of Brooks, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at his home in Omaha, Neb.

Mass of Christian Burial was Bruggeman, Joel held on Tuesday, December 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church i Brooks with Rev. Tim Bushy officiating. Andrew Yaggie was the organist and Vicki Yaggie was the soloist. Honorary casketbearers were all of Joel's family and friends. Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Brooks.

Joel Ray Bruggeman was born on November 21, 1958, the son of Larry Joseph and Viola "Vi" (Nurmi) Bruggeman in Red Lake Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks and attended public school in Oklee. He worked on the oil rigs in Montana and was a logger in Washington. He also worked highway construction, drywall construction, and worked for Crystal Sugar and Minnesota Petroleum in Minneapolis and Vigen Construction. He was currently working as a heavy equipment operator for Negus and Son in Omaha, Neb.

Joel loved hunting, music and animals and enjoyed entertaining people with his humor. He was very creative and was always working under the hood of someone's car.

Survivors include his son, Jake Ray Bruggeman; parents, Larry and Vi Bruggeman of Brooks; brothers, Larry Jr. "Lars" (Mary Ann) of Bellingham, Wash., Kelan (Janell) of Brooks, Kris (LeAnne) of Scandia, Alan "Ole" (Rose) of Oklee, and Ross (Valerie) of Red Lake Falls; sisters, Lynette (Richard) Haugen of Thief River Falls and Janell (Jay) Pelland of Warroad; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Joel was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles. A00003B2002DC11
