Bruce, 81

Karlstad
- Ida J. Bruce, 81, died on Wednesday, November
27, 2002 at the Karlstad Healthcare
Center.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, December 2 at
Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist with Rev.
David Pretty officiating. Linda Kastl was the
pianist and Erica, T.J., Kya and Linda Kastl were
the vocalists. Casketbearers were T.J. Kastl,
Joshua Bernhardson, Tom Kastl, Mark Bernhardson,
Robert Strandberg and Wayne Wolff. Honorary
casketbearers were all of those who attended the
service.
Ida
Josophina Bernhardson was born on June 21, 1921,
the daughter of Jonas and Esther (Gustafson)
Bernhardson in Welby, Saskatchewan, Canada. As a
child, she moved with her family to Strandquist,
where she attended school and grew up. Ida was
baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She
cooked and cleaned on area farms for several years.
On May 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to
Henry Bruce in Halma. In 1946, the couple purchased
a farm in Lincoln Township, where they made their
home for many years. Ida was a member of Bethesda
Lutheran Church of Strandquist. Henry died in 1978
and Ida moved into Strandquist shortly after. Since
February 1998, she has resided at the Karlstard
Healthcare Center.
Survivors
include a sister, Orpha Wolff of Thief River Falls;
and several nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Ida was
preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and
