Thief
River Falls - Alice Brubakken, 93, died on
Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Northwest Medical
Center, CNC Unit, in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, July 24, at Johnson
Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Rev.
Merrill Kindall officiating. Casket bearers
included Alice's grandchildren: Monica Brubakken,
Leslie Brubakken, Greg Brubakken, Bonnie Brubakken,
Shari Brouwer, Tammy Mahn and Jody Bredfeld.
Interment was held at Hoople Cemetery in Hoople,
N.D.
Alice
Constance Hanson was born October 4, 1910 in
Minneapolis, the daughter of John P. and Emma
(Grytdal) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed
into the Lutheran Faith. In the 1920's, Alice moved
with her parents to Saco, Mont., where she grew up
and attended school. The family moved to Thief
River Falls, in 1926 and then moved to the
Newfolden area.
On June
21, 1930, Alice was united in marriage to Thomas
Brubakken at the Rindal Church in Thief River
Falls. The couple lived in Hoople, N.D., where Tom
farmed. In, 1946, they then moved to Crookston,
where Alice worked as a nurse's aide for 11 years.
In 1968, they moved to Thief River Falls, where
they have resided since. Alice traveled with the
Happy Seniors Band to Crystal, N.D., where they
presented a program at the Golden Years senior
citizen club.
Survivors
include daughters, Janice Williams of Naples, Fla.
and Connie Maximeik of Barnwell, S.C.; sons, James
of Waite Park and Thomas (Ethel) of New Berlin,
Wis.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren;
sisters, Doris Larson of Thief River Falls, Ester
Brubakken of Grafton, N.D., brothers, Arnold
(Marion) of Grafton, N.D., Harold (Myrt) of St.
Louis, Mo., Harvey (Venice) of Thief River Falls,
and John (Joyce) Hanson of Pequot Lakes;
sister-in-law, Opal Hanson of Spokane, Wash. and
step sister Myrtle (Ray) Johnson of Thief River
Falls.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents;
sisters, Margaret Hipsher and Lucille Bergman; and
a brother, Raymond.
