Thief
River Falls - Blanche Brown, 85, died on
Saturday, June 21, 2003 at the CNC Unit of
Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, June 24 at the
Johnson Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls
with the Rev. Russ Harris officiating.
Casketbearers were all of Blanche's grandchildren.
Interment was in the Brooks Presbyterian Cemetery
in Brooks.
Blanche
Dorsella Thornton was born in Plummer on September
11, 1917, the daughter of Alvin and Pauline
(Storman) Thornton. She grew up and attended school
in the Plummer area.
On
October 19, 1933, she was united in marriage to
Franklin Brown in Red Lake Falls. The couple farmed
in the Plummer area and Blanche worked out of her
home in the custom laundery business. She also made
and sold rugs. In 1967, they moved into Thief River
Falls and Blanche went to work at Valley Home until
her retirement in 1984.
She
enjoyed making rugs, embroidery and crossword
puzzles. She was a member of the Presbyterian
Ladies Aid at church.
Survivors
include children, Don (Lee) of Thief River Falls,
Jerald (Bonnie) of Thief River Falls, Sandy (Russ)
Landrus of Thief River Falls, and Dale (Emma) of
Thief River Falls; 12 grandchildren; 20
great-grandchildren; five great
great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Eldora
Hovde of Barnsville, Shirley Helle of Bagley,
Marion Helmer of St. Louis Park, Clinton Thornton
of Baker and Alvin Thornton, Jr. of East Grand
Forks; and many nieces and nephews.
Blanche
was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; one
infant daughter, an infant grandson; an infant
great-granddaughter, Brandy; two brothers, Richard
Thornton and Maurice Thornton; three sisters, Melva
Helle, Maxine Finke and Marjorie Zavoral.
