Angeline Breznay, 95

Issaquah, Wash. - Angeline Breznay, 95, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at Providence Marionwood in Issaquah, Wash.

A memorial service was held on Monday, October 15, at 10 a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sammamish, Wash. Private graveside services followed at Hillside Cemetery in Issaquah with Flintoft's Issaquah Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Angeline Anna Svobodny was born on April 30, 1906 in St. Leo, the daughter of Frank and Anna Svobodny. The family moved to Pennington County in 1912, and Angeline graduated as the valedictorian of her Goodridge High School class. She received a rural teacher's degree and taught in New Prague for two years and for a year in northern Minnesota following her marriage.

Angeline married Pete Breznay on June 26, 1928 in Thief River Falls. They farmed in the area prior to moving into a home they built in Thief River Falls in 1937. Pete died on November 22, 1962.

Angeline worked in a bakery and cooked at the hospital and at a local restaurant. She also worked as a clerk at Ben Franklin for 10 years, retiring in 1968. She moved to Issaquah, Wash. in 1977 to be near family. She lived in Hutchinson House prior to moving to Providence Marionwood.

She was an active member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening, especially flowers.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Sykes of Mason Lake, Wash., a son James (JoAnn) of Sammamish, Wash.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vicki Marvel of Arthur, N.D.
