Agnes M. Brevik, 91

East Grand Forks &endash; Agnes M. Brevik, 91, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Edgewood Vista in East Grand Forks.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Agnes Brevik Wednesday, April 14 (today), at Eidsvold Lutheran Church, Halma, with Pastor Gary Halverson officiating. Interment will be at Eidsvold Cemetery in Halma.

Casketbearers include Kevin Brevik, Kent Brevik, Cory Brevik, Alex Dorner, Travis Dahlin, Christ Petersen, Mike Ekdahl, Daniel Ekdahl, and Kyle Ekdahl.

Arrangements are with Collins Funeral Homes of Karlstad, Greenbush and Middle River.

Agnes Mathilda Brevik, the daughter of the late Sivert L. and Marie (Langve) Spilde, was born on July 11, 1912, in Norway Township of Kittson County, near Halma. She was baptized and confirmed in the Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma, and attended the former Beaton School near her home. On April 20, 1935, Agnes was united in marriage to Willard Brevik. The couple first farmed in Norway Township, then moved to a farm in Springbrook Township near Halma in 1948 where they resided for many years. Agnes was a long-time member of the Eidsvold Lutheran Church of Halma, and active in church affairs. In 1970, the couple retired and moved to Karlstad. Willard passed away in May of 1987, and Agnes continued to make her home in Karlstad. She resided at the Oakwood Homes in Karlstad for several years until three years ago when she made her home at Edgewood Vista in East Grand Forks.

She is survived by one son, Roger (Frances), of Phoenix, Ariz., one daughter, Eileen (Neil) Thiessen of Roseau; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Clifford (Donna) Brevik of Kennedy; one sister-in-law, Esther (Spilde) Sevre of Thief River Falls; daughter-in-law, Fern Brevik of Red Lake Falls; a son-in-law, Phil Haider of Thief River Falls; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two daughters, Beverly (Bobby) Ekdahl and Janet Haider; one son, Merrill; and five brothers: Arthur, Louis J., Melbin, Olaf, and Selmer Spilde.
